Performance Space in association with dualpLOVER invites you to Auraltered State #1 the first of eight free performances to be conducted across 2010 focusing on the music of New South Wales as heard through the ears of Lucas Abela. The performances will cross a wide spectrum of music from the state with a focus on some of our more entertaining, innovative, unusual and new thought artists. All shows will be held at the new Performance Space ClubHouse which has a limited capacity of 100 patrons so please come early. This series has been kindly supported by Arts NSW.
Liquid Architecture 10 : Festival of Sound Arts is a landmark occasion for the festival and for sound culture in Australia. Celebrating its tenth consecutive year, the Liquid Architecture sound festival runs for four weeks and goes to seven cities across Australia, presenting an exciting program of contemporary sound arts. With a decade of experience to draw upon, the diverse program features live events and installations showcasing the highest quality sound work in an intense focused listening environment, privileging our most unsung sense: listening.
The breadth of diversity of artists and artistic practices includes meticulous recorded work, improvised instrumental performance, new sound for screen work, radical uses of digital technology, inventive self-made sound making devices and historically informed practices.

A SHIMMY SHAKIN' NIGHT OF LIVE ELECTRO/DANCE-POP WITH SUPER MASSIVE & YEN
Award winning Sydney dance/rock band Super Massive team with fellow electro-funksters Yen for a very special night of electro/dance-pop at the Excelsior Hotel Surry Hills on Saturday 7th March. Newcomers Life Bitter Soul support.
The night showcases three of Sydney's best up and coming electronic/dance rock bands. With all bands on the bill sharing a love of deep rhythm, shimmering synths, poetic pop, not to mention lights and lasers, it's set to be a spectacular, shimmy-shakin' night, if not an outright dancing frenzy, if both Super Massive and Yen's previous shows are anything to go by.
The show is at the Excelsior Hotel, 64 Foveaux St, Surry Hills. The night starts at 8pm. Tickets are $10- at the door.

Four of Melbourne's finest purveyors of lush sounds ranging from smooth liquid triphop, dub and sample based beat landscapes to squelchy, 8-bit glitch unite to deliver a night of synaesthetic delight for your auditory and visual pleasure. V.J. accompaniment by Shower Screens (Gertrude Projection Festival) and Siadatz (Uber Lingua) will be augmenting the multimedia experience of fresh local producers of organic electronic music, White Minus Red, Ionic, Editer and Paranym.
White Minus Red combine elements of triphop, dub and jazz, live instrumentation with Ableton powered technology and soulful vocals. Fronted by Sarah McDonald (ex Symbiosis, Bois et Charbon), with Liam O'Connell (Agency Dub Collective, 30B), Ben Ganley (Agency Dub Collective), Jon Hopkins (Agency Dub Collective, Malicine) and Leigh Hegg (OffBeat@Horse Bazaar, Plankton), White Minus Red have graced many a festival stage (Falls, Renaissance, Folk Rhythm + Life, Sustainable Living Festival) and are ones to watch.
Expat Novacastrian duo, Ionic have been getting many a party started since relocating to Melbourne with their unique and tasty blend of sample based, beat laden electronica, as well as gracing venues, galleries and festivals (Gertrude Projection Festival, Icicles and Raindrops). Entertaining electro/funk/rock band Super Massive return from a successful first Northern NSW & Queensland tour to play a show at Sonar Sydney on Saturday 16th February. MusicOz Award nominees Super Massive bring their creative and visceral electro/rock/alternative pop music to the Mona Vale Hotel on Saturday November 24th.
Sydney band Super Massive are currently nominees for a 2007 MusicOz Award: An impressive achievement considering that the band has not yet released a single CD, nor had a scrap of airplay.
Super Massive is the creative partnership of singer/writer Malina Hamilton-Smith and drummer/composer Glenn Abbott, best known for his work with popular Australian band Machine Gun Fellatio.
The two found a mutual interest in aiming to create the perfect symbiosis of multi-layered synthscapes and the visceral impact of a full rock band.

Light and shade. Electro rock band Super Massive support industrial strength vixen Mz Ann Thropik. Super Massive support Mz Ann Thropik at the Annandale Hotel, Thursday 29th March. She's got loads of fans who all seem to be in love with her in that PJ Harvey kind of way and she looks rather magnetic in her pics, so we're looking forward to checking it out too. We'll be pulling out the old Alice Cooper cover, and playing our heavier stuff. (Heavy disco that is) Can't wait!
LoveShark's on guitar again which is awesome, coz who does dirty loud rock guitar like the Shark?
We are on second spot. 9pm - 9:40pm. Other bands on are The Black Royale (progressive, psychobilly - on 1st) and Marlow (Heavy rock - on after us). It's $10 entry.
