TransAcoustic Festival, Auckland, 8th-11th December 2005 - (casual) review

Here's a rough review of TransAcoustic Festival held in Auckland in December 2005. It is actually comprised of a couple of emails sent to the aus_noise yahoogroups mail list and the audio foundation NZ mail list, so is casual / informal in manner & language. (but I like it this way!)

I've added joel stern's review which was also posted to aus_noise. he wrote a formal piece for RealTime magazine also which is available @ http://www.realtimearts.net/rt71/stern_transacoustic.html

event documentation archive

Documentation of events including interviews, audio, video and photos for archival purposes.

Multiple genres are included - music and more recently arts projects.

Most of the material is hosted offsite to save bandwidth.

This section is slowly being updated with documented older events - mostly photos, audio recordings and some reviews & informal interviews, and more recently video. There's also a few notes from courses and workshops I've attended. I haven't had time to transcribe some of my notes / audio interviews so I'm posting photos of my notebooks and raw recordings on occasion - perhaps this is better than nothing!

Subterran

About Subterran

Subterran is a work in progress. We are an events and music organisation based in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, S.E.Qld, primarily involved in outdoor music events with an environmental focus. Subterran aims to push the outdoor party format deeper. Our belief is that to stay true to the original intention of outdoor dance parties: earth reconnection and exploration of fringe electronic music, the culture needs to start connecting and giving back to the earth in action, not just intention, and to be able to reinvent itself to match the high pace of evolution of electronic music. Subterran is committed to pushing environmental and community intentions to the forefront, and also to showcasing exciting new music.
