Announcing the debut of the twice-yearly BC/DC RECORD FAIR in Brisbane.

BC/DC stands for the Brisbane Crate Diggaz Co-Op, a group of like minded record enthusiasts who are working towards a greater good for music in this city.

The fair is to be held on the same day as Weird Gear in APRIL, which is Sunday the 25th. You should be there if you're a vinyl head already!! But if you haven't checked it out by then, this is your chance...

The event kicks off at 3pm. And dealers will stay until 7 or 8pm. It's FREE entry, and it's a late start, so roll through whenever, it will be chill, no frantic diggin'... browse at your own leisure, in the comfort that is the RUMPUS ROOM. Portable turntables will be supplied with headphones, so if you need to listen, the gear is there... just bring yourself, your duckets and your mind.

The dealers at the fair are hand-picked because they are experts in their own field.... we will only be selling hip-hop, jazz, funk, prog/psych rock, soul, disco and food for the SAMPLERS...

All dealers come from a hip-hop/diggin' perspective and you can ask for what you need... Any requests for certain records or artists, please post them here and the crew will check it out and try bring stuff of that vein... lots of drum breaks, loops, rap singles, hip-hop records, etc. to be found. There will be cheap records, and there will be expensive records. But all of it will be priced reasonably, not eBay or popsike prices.

Experimental Music: Audio Explorations in Australia is written by artists, producers and participants in alternative music-making, and including a companion CD, Experimental Music explores the development of forms, ideas and scenes in Australia from the 1970s to the present. It brings together a wide range of musical experimentation, from post-punk, noise, appropriation, electronic dance and listening music, to free improv, computer process music, experimental radio, instrument building and audiovisual fusions -- practices that have formed an integral part of Australian creative culture. Experimental Music illustrates how these forms have influenced each other to create a fertile and diverse culture, and highlights why it is vital to question, experiment and break the rules.

'Soundclash' is an initiative of the music board of the Australia Council and is open to individuals and groups engaged in projects involving the creation and performance of experimental, creative and innovative contemporary popular music. In the past ten years, the field of contemporary popular music (pop, rock, hip hop, electronic dance music and other, related modern music forms) has become increasingly hybrid, challenging the boundaries of the form itself.

FracturedSpaces would like it to be known that it is looking to release its first CD within the next four months, To that end I am looking for quality established bands/artists with a recording already finished, and who have no label as yet, to submit demos/samples with a view to possible release. I am
looking for works within the following genres only please, at least initially:

THE KADIMA MUSICIANS COLLECTIVE is in the vanguard of creative improvised music in Israel. Focusing on fringe artists and their work, KADIMA supports and develops the rich cultural mix of Israeli artistic life.
KADIMA includes a recording label and recording facilities in Jerusalem. It promotes and co-produces studio releases and concerts, and helps develop and connect musicians in the field of free improvisation and creative music.
KADIMA was founded and is led by Jean Claude Jones, bassist and educator, and one of the pioneers of Israeli jazz.

The Digital Artists Handbook is an up to date, reliable and accessible source of information that introduces you to different tools, resources and ways of working related to digital art. The goal of the Handbook is to be a signpost, a source of practical information and content that bridges the gap between new users and the platforms and resources that are available, but not always very accessible. The Handbook will be slowly filled with articles written by invited artists and specialists, talking about their tools and ways of working. Some articles are introductions to tools, others are descriptions of methodologies, concepts and technologies. When discussing software, the focus of this Handbook is on Free/Libre Open Source Software. The Handbook aims to give artists information about the available tools but also about the practicalities related to Free Software and Open Content, such as collaborative development and licenses. ChucK is a new (and developing) audio programming language for real-time synthesis, composition, performance, and now, analysis - fully supported on MacOS X, Windows, and Linux. ChucK presents a new time-based, concurrent programming model that's highly precise and expressive (we call this strongly-timed), as well as dynamic control rates, and the ability to add and modify code on-the-fly. In addition, ChucK supports MIDI, OSC, HID device, and multi-channel audio.

ABC TV and the Australian Film Commission (AFC) are calling for proposals from emerging filmmakers who are 35 years and under for their jtv docs initiative. Seeking fresh approaches to half-hour and one-hour documentaries that explore music, ideas, culture and contemporary issues through the eyes of generations X, Y and Z. jtv is an extraordinary new on-air adventure that ABC TV will roll out later this year. A multiplatform, multilayered brand which will exist on the ABC main channel, ABC 2, online and other emerging technologies, jtv will comprise:

# a weekly jtv series on the main ABC channel on Saturday night, taking viewers inside the belly of the beast that is triple j.
# a weekly jtv omnibus on ABC 2 and extensive jtv material available with online components.
