:: Vision Four 5 (Live) ::

In 1990, "Vision Four 5" was formed as a live dance music act that challenged the perception of what live music could be, with interactive video technology and immersive live performances.

The line up changed through the first few years to settle from 1993-1997 with members Noel Burgess (Music), Tim Gruchy (Video/Interactives), Ben Suthers (Music) and Al Ferguson (Video/Animation). In this time Vision Four 5 produced 2 albums, Texture (1993) and Humid (1995) and numerous singles on Volition Records/Sony Music. They toured Australia constantly playing raves, clubs Big Day Out and remixed many other artists in this time.

The rave hit "Everything You Need" was one of the highest selling Australian 12" singles and the more radio friendly "Funkify Yourself" crossed over to become both a club and national radio hit.

The Vision Four 5 live performance incorporated a Mandala interactive system to utilize movement in the stage "control zone" to maniplulate any aspect of video processing, animation or the music as well as live camera's and a full state-of-the-art music studio onstage. The result was a truly unique, immersive and synchronous experience.

All of the members of the band have pursued their specialist field since 1997 and live/work in various parts of the globe.

In October, Ben and Noel are bringing back the music of Vision Four 5 for "Back Again" in Sydney and "Reunion" in Brisbane to remind audiences that Vision Four 5 is "Everything You Need"

Istanbul bellydance

we went to the Gar Musichall during my last trip to Istanbul. they have bellydancers, Anatolian folk dancing and other traditional dances. this girl moved so fast yet stood still - I don't know how she did it. but my favourites were the men in black with their precise moves - one walked en pointe!!

after the dancing a singer sang songs from different nations in their native language. and people from the audience danced on the stage. most danced their country's traditional dance. I wondered what Australia's national dance was. when he sang an Australian song it was Waltzing Matilda. this must be how we're seen overseas. the audience were mostly an older crowd - there were a lot of tour buses outside so I'm guessing most people were in tour groups. they all looked like they were having such a great time. I hope I can look that happy and enjoy dancing at their age! it was great to see them enjoying their dances & dancing. now.. I just need to discover what the Australian dance is..

Zen Zen Zo - Zeitgiest

Zeitgiest

Zeitgeist is a retrospective of Zen Zen Zo's Butoh inspired dance-theatre works since 2000. Drawing from the critically acclaimed productions Unleashed, Those with Lucifer, and most recently Zen Zen Zo's international collaborations with American band The Dresden Dolls, Zeitgeist is a collection of raw and provocative pieces that reflect "the spirit (Geist) of our times (Zeit)". This groundbreaking work asks the question, how are we as human beings interacting with ourselves, each other, and the earth at the turn of the new Millennium? The answer is at times heart-breaking, at others humorous, but ultimately hopeful, as the dancers weave together physical theatre, poetic ritual, burlesque, camp, and comedy in Zen Zen Zo’s hallmark style.

Old Museum Building, Crn of Gregory Tce and Bowen Bridge Rd, Bowen Hills

LAWRENCE GRAZIOSE WORKSHOPS

THE ENNEAGRAM WEEKEND WORKSHOP Sat 8 – Sun 9 March

WISDOM & COMPASSION WEEKEND WORKSHOP Sat 15 – Sun 16 March

In 2004, 2006 and 2007, Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre hosted exciting weekend workshops with Lawrence Graziose from the USA, a renowned teacher of The Enneagram and of the Zen Buddist/Taoist View of Human Nature. We are pleased to welcome him back in 2008 and he has suggested that this may be his last visit to Australia for a while due to exciting opportunities available to him in the USA…so this may be your last chance!

THE ENNEAGRAM WEEKEND WORKSHOP Sat 8 – Sun 9 March (10AM – 5PM)

The Enneagram is an ancient psychological model which analyses personality types, ego structures and behaviours. It will look at nine ego-fixations which can create suffering in our daily lives and it offers ‘antidotes’ which can counteract the tendency to follow these ego-habits. It proves to be very useful for our work as actors investigating human nature and for our own personal development.

WISDOM & COMPASSION WEEKEND WORKSHOP Sat 15 – Sun 16 March (10AM – 5PM)

The section on wisdom will focus on spiritual practices that are designed to create an open and expanded mind. The section on Compassion will focus on practices that are designed to open the heart centre to the ‘service of others’. Both sets of practices help us to find true happiness in our lives.

WHERE: 82 Twilight St, Kenmore

COST: THE ENNEAGRAM WEEKEND WORKSHOP: $200
WISDOM & COMPASSION WORKSHOP: $100/DAY OR $175 WEEKEND
