I'm currently working here on a project. I've been following Raqs' work and Sarai for quite a few years but this is the first time I've seen their work in person. it was a retrospective of work from 2002-2006. Raqs MC have exhibited/collaborated with many international exhibitions and festivals/biennales (including recently the sydney biennale I believe?) but this was the first solo exhibition in Delhi, even though they were formed in 1992 & have been exhibiting since then also.

the collective also work on various research projects and release an annual reader (Sarai Reader) - this can be viewed on their website as well as in book form (though I've only seen them here in print form so was lucky to pick them up locally!) the readers have a different topic each year which academics and researchers write submissions for to discuss and document various issues. they also run a research fellows project where students write on topics such as urban development, village life in India, media, technology, social and health issues etc.

anway, I took some photos and made a slideshow video if you would like to take a look. (some of the pics are a little blurry I'm afraid, but they give you an idea)

Responding to political, social and personal issues around surveillance and suppression, KISSS incorporates the individual and collaborative practices of artists, writers and curators.

KISSS includes Anne Bean, Camilla Brueton, Season Butler, Joanna Callaghan, Daedelus, Dolores Sanchez Calvo, Alexandra Dementieva, Deej Fabyc, Coco Fusco, Maxine Hall, Melanie Jackson, Calum F.Kerr, Maria Kheirkhah, Paula Moss, Psychological Art Circus, Sara Raza, Suzana Rezende, Elvis Richardson, Eva Rudlinger, paula roush, Nina Sobell, Hannah Terry, Emma Wolukau-Wanambwa and Reinhard Krehl, Silke Steets and Jan Wenzel.

KISSS was launched in August 2005 at the Whitechapel Gallery London where KISSS strategies were presented to a full house in a live, intermedia combination of performance, video, interventions and working sessions. An audience member observed how she appreciated ‘the range of material and approaches that were presented, from the very intimate to the political body, without being didactic’. This was followed in September by a SUMMIT, at an isolated country retreat in Somerset. A new piece of work Thomas’ Head was developed in response to the site, the historical archive and ideas of surveillance and suppression developed and enacted in public space.

KISSS is brought to Conical by London based Australian artists Joanna Callaghan and Deej Fabyc and co-curated with Paula Roush and Camilla Brueton.

Annually, KIMI will unfold four or five special exhibitions organized by KIMI curatorial staffs, one special exhibition selected from Independent Curator Program, and parallel series of three projects(shop, cafe and outdoor). The multi-natured spaces of KIMI, from its traditional gallery room to outdoor, welcomes the attention and participation of international artists.

In the old office building of Dong-a Ilbo, the newspaper company, the history of the ilmin museum of art began as the Ilmin Center in 1994. It was then registered as the ilmin museum of art in Dec. 1996, and, then renovated into its current state in 2002. The Ilmin Collection includes about 430 artifacts from the Koryo Dynasty to the Modern era of Korea collected by Ilmin, about 1,200 other pieces from the Dong-a Ilbo Collection and about 100 pieces of contemporary artwork. The contemporary art collection consists of artworks which carry social messages; this well shows the character of the ilmin museum of art as a comtemporary museum.
