SOOB Opening night party / Mutant Disco
8:00pm - late :: SOOB Festival Club, 610 Ann Street, Valley

Official opening night party of SOOB 2006, with live dance/rock acts
followed by a bangin' techno and electro party from the Mutant Disco
crew. Public holiday the next day!

Medical Records All -Ages Showcase

Showcase for local independent record label Medical Records, featuring
artists on the label's roster.

Magazine launch : Voiceworks #65 - the GENRE issue
6.30pm - 7.30pm :: Metro Arts, 109 Edward St, City
Presented by Voiceworks, SOOB and the Queensland Writers Centre
Free, with magazines ($8) and GENRE badges ($1) on sale

MC'd by Voiceworks editor Tom Doig, this sessions sees the
launch of Voiceworks #65 - the GENRE issue - and will feature
readings by shit-hot Brisbane GENRE writers and recent Brisbane Voiceworks

Designer and ex-pat Brisvegan David Campbell will be in
attendance; showing off his stylee covers and spreads. Tom and David will
be talking about opportunities for young writers, artists and journos to
get involved in Voiceworks. If you're looking to become part of the
Aussie publishing scene, this is great place to start.

Local writers, from poets to musicians talk about the words that inspire
them and perform or show an excerpt of the words that inspire them or of
what they create through their use of words.

Featuring: Cameron Elliott, Martha Goddard, Mark Welge, Benjamin Law,
Alicia Bennett.

Following Wordy Types, a special free SOOB commissioned Brisbane City
Council will ferry those who wish to continue their pre-holiday
festivities at the SOOB Festival Club.
