[newcastle] ARTwalk exhibitions

ARTwalk Update

The ARTwalk project has been a great success and has provided Hunter
artists
with the opportunity to show their impressive talents.

The first ARTwalk exhibition proper still has a number weeks to runs so
there's still a chance to see the jewellery, sculpture, paintings,
installations, textiles and textures, graffiti and ceramics, mixed
media, works on paper, photography, video artistry, mug shots, the
greener city garden and of course the marvelous Cakeshop.

The city west precinct committee invites you to take the time to explore
the innovative cityscape created by the artists or please join us at one
of the following major events.

Outdoor ARTwalk Market and Exhibition Space
Operating on Saturday August 9th and August 23rd from 11am to 3pm.
Artists from across the Hunter are invited to display their work
outdoors on the grassed area
next to Hunter St. TAFE in Newcastle.

Works are welcomed in a diverse range of mediums. Including unfinished
pieces which, for novelty or interest, you might wish to work on as part
of your display. Call 4962 3888 to reserve your space.

Meanwhile at Sculpt WorX - 551 Hunter St, Newcastle West.

Four local sculptors are exhibiting their work and every Saturday from
10:00 am to 2:00 pm and on Thursdays from 11 am to 1:00 pm during
ARTwalk, there will be sculpture demonstrations by the exhibiting
sculptors. Art lovers will be welcome to come into the shop to view the
diverse range of sculptures and through to the courtyard to observe the
sculptors in the process of creation.

Over 50 art lovers crammed into the temporary studio on Friday 4th July
for the official opening by well-known Newcastle sculptor Willi Haas.
Due to the success of this event, there will be a second function with
wine and finger food at 6:00 pm on the 8th August to display the
sculptures completed during ARTwalk. The enthusiasm and support of ART
walk is reflected in the pieces already begun in the court yard of
SCULPT WORX. Thanks to ARTwalk all expenses have been covered.
