another station I've listened to online is Israel National Radio as some of the shows are in English. they have interviews and music programs and also Jewish specific programs so it's interesting to listen. I listened to some programs after the Yeshiva was attacked by the terrorist. and today being Memorial Day, there's a special program of songs that every Israeli knows. another program has an interview with local Israeli trance artists ITP - Individual Thought Patterns

of course there's also Voice of Peace Radio which used to broadcast from a ship in the Mediterranean Sea off Tel Aviv. VOP was very popular with the Israeli people and peace protester Abie Nathan was it's main stalwart. this was the first Israeli pirate radio station broadcasting from 1973 to 1993. it's since closed down, though I read they might start it up again one day - not sure if this has happened. they had a reunion in 2006, and a double album tribute cd was released in 2007.

follow some of the myspace friends links there's probably more like this

-------------

The Voice of Peace radio station

my friend from work told me about the Voice of Peace pirate radio
station which was broadcast from a ship which sailed just outside
Israeli borders during 70s-90s. it was a non-profit station and didn't
have ads but had peace messages / jingles. there's a double cd with
some of the jingles and songs from the station. it was really popular
with the youth at the time - some stats say 40% of the population
tuned in, and it reached other countries over certain periods when
they ran off dual transmitters/higher power transmission. my friend
was working/living on a kibbutz at the time and remembers hearing this
station all the time and he has very fond memories of it. he can still
say all the jingles - must have heard them all a thousand times! it
was run by Abie Nathan who has a really interesting history also
including illegally flying over the boarder to present peace messages
to the political leaders. the station had support from around the
world - the djs were mostly British djs.
there's a film about the station called "Abe Nathan – As The Sun Sets"
by Eytan Harris - I haven't seen this but I think it'd be really
interesting

Frank T.G aka Honesty is working on a project to document Indigenous Hip Hop in Australia and to feature them on a Koori radio program based in Marrickville. below is an email sent via the octapod list if anyone can assist:

---

At the moment I am starting to do some pre-record interviews for an
indigenous Hip Hop show here at koori radio. I want to talk to every
Indigenous head that is involved in the scene in any facet.

Basically the idea is to really document the Indigenous Hip Hop what's going

on at moment as well build a picture of the history of Indigenous hip hop in

Australia. I also want to delve into get a deeper insight into Indigenous
identity relating to hip hop in Australia.

I think it could be a really important resource for future indigenous heads
as well as an excellent crew building exercise for the current Aust
Indigenous hip hop family.

I am currently endeavouring to find contacts for all the heads that I am
aware of; it would be excellent if people could contact me as I am surely
not aware of everything that is out there. My contacts are mobile: 0433 295
816 Email: deadly_buda@hotmail.com. It would be dope if you could forward
this onto your networks and any Indig Hip Hop heads that may be interested
in this project.

Currently I am trying to do all the interviews in the studio at Koori Radio
in Marrickville but if that isn't convenient we can organise to do
interviews via phone.

Peace,
